These Bourbon Chocolate Balls are easy to make and a perfect one-bite dessert for parties! These boozy desserts are a hit for parties and holiday gifts!
An Easy Bourbon Dessert Idea
These Bourbon Chocolate Balls are really easy to make, very messy to make – but still easy. They also have a half of a cup of bourbon in them, which also makes them really delicious.
And I have to tell you, do NOT involve the kids for this dessert recipe, this is not one of those recipes where it would be fun for them to be around.
Not really because of the bourbon, but there is that. Because rolling these bourbon balls is a really messy job so if you have really little guys you might not want them running around your kitchen. Or licking their fingers for that matter.
If you really don’t want your hands to be covered in chocolate I do have a few tips for you! For one, you can spray your hands with cooking spray to help the chocolate from sticking. Or you can wear plastic gloves while you’re rolling, then take them off when you’re done and throw them away.
How to Make Bourbon Balls
Get all your ingredients together so that everything is ready to go. You want the ingredients to stay cold so don’t go let them sitting around while you’re sipping on that bourbon…
I used a Jim Beam Maple in these bourbon chocolate balls but you can use any kind of bourbon or whiskey that you have. Not a bourbon fan? Not a problem! You can also substitute rum in here and make rum balls instead. We’ve got options…
Next put all of the ingredients into a large bowl and mix it up until all the ingredients are combined well. Now I like to let the mixture sit in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to let the ingredients combine and also to let the booze soak in a little.
Be patient, these bourbon balls will be worth that wait!
Now to roll the bourbon balls, you can use a 1 inch scooper or your hands. Just try and keep them about the same size, a two bite size ball is just the right amount!
Finally, roll the balls into cocoa or powdered sugar- or a combination of both and refrigerate for a couple of hours before serving. Add these little desserts to a small box and give as gift during the holidays for that bourbon lover in your life. Just make sure they keep them in the refrigerator!
